I see a lot of people printing calibration cubes to test their printers. However, I don't believe that a 20mm calibration cube is large enough to properly test the accuracy of your printer. The idea is that, with a larger test print, (50x50x50), you can take the (expected)/(actual) and have less relative error. I didn't want to make this shape a cube because that would use much more material that is not necessary to get accurate measurements. How to use: 1. Upload the model to your slicer 2. Orient the model such that the labeled faces are facing their corresponding axis. (x to x, y to y, z to z) 3. Print the model 4. Measure each axis (preferably with calipers) 5. Calculate new e-steps using (new_steps) = (expected)/(actual)*(current_steps) 6. Set your printer's steps to the new value. 7. Repeat until satisfied. (Trying again with an even larger print should help make your printer even more accurate) For example: Say your printer's x-axis steps is set to 100 steps/mm. Then, you printed the model and got that your X-axis is 4mm. That means that it is undersized. So, (new_steps) = (expected)/(actual)*(current_steps) = 50/49*100 = 102.04 That means that you should now set your x-axis steps to 102.4 Repeat this for each axis. Notes: -You might get different results when done with and without a raft. Because of this, I recommend printing this how you would print most your other prints. - Most printers will not have perfect first layer heights. Because of this, most prints are going to be slightly short due to a squished first layer. To calibrate your first layer height, I recommend first tuning your steps, making the correct changes, and tuning your bed height. - Some infill is required to prevent sagging roofs. That way, you get more accurate measurements - Theoretically, if you print at layer heights that are equal to the magic numbers of your printer (multiples of the step thickness of your motors), then it doesn't matter which layer thickness you use.
