55/35 special gear set for pi approximation on Harrison lathe

thingiverse

A special remix of single gears to produce a 55 tooth and 35 tooth gear pair to enable pi to be approximated on a Harrison L5 lathe. This is useful for turning threads to suit worm gears. 55/35 is a pretty good approximation for pi/2. If you need to tweak bore and keyway dimensions, you could use the customizer version this was derived from and print as two separate gears. Or you could download the SCAD files and make changes manually in OpenSCAD. I haven't made one of these yet but it is on my to-do list. If you make one please comment on your experience.
