I got tired of replacing the lathe Collet wrenches in our shop with junky/easily damaged ones. They are all way over priced. This is a lathe collet wrench designed around C5 collets, but that will probably work on any 3 pronged collet in the size range. It uses those slot head screwdriver bits that sit in your universal kit and collect dust. The ideal insert to use is the flared blade style (which I designed in clearance for if you have them), because they have a cross section that is straight for about .1 inches. Some inserts are tapered all the way to the tip, which will eventually fight the closure of the collet as it is screwed into the taper. The inserts can be tapped into place with a brass mallet, and if damaged can be driven out from the back with a screwdriver or punch for replacement.
