#5" Shuriken The design brief was a small robust X-Frame 3D printed quad. The arms are designed as weak points. While they should hold up well, they will break in a heavy crash (Update: I have crashed mine hard a few times now and the arms are yet to break) without damaging the core of the frame and can easily and quickly be replaced in the field with only a hex key and some fresh zip-ties for the esc and wires. The upper frame protects the electronics. ###Features: * Only 100g including all fastening hardware * Arms quickly and easily replaced * Light but designed to adequately protect expensive electronic components * Cheap to build at around $10 compared with $100 or more for a store bought CF frame not to mention cost of replacement parts * Designed for standard and readily available Flight controllers RX, FPV and VTX gear * True symmetrical X-Frame design * Ready To Fly weight only 390grams including battery ###Want to show your thanks? * Tip me $2 and I will remove the branding from the panel on the front of the Frame under the camera and send you the file. * Tip me $5 and I will customise the front panel with any text or image you like embossed or depressed into the frame and send you the file. * Tip me $10 and I will send you the source files in any format that can be exported from Fusion360 I've completed my printing and will begin assembly in the coming days and update this design with full instructions. https://youtu.be/MyM_CfdMHaI ###Updates: * 20/6/18 - Thickened Antenna pannel * 19/6/18 - No longer a work in progress project is complete * Some minor tweaks to parts (best to redownload all files) * Arms stretched by 5 mm for added prop clearance * Frames adjusted for prop flex clearance * Added detailed print settings * Added short video * 11/6/18 - Added some photos of my completed frame, total weight with all fastening hardware was an extremely respectable 100g this is better than comparable commercial carbon fibre frames, and I honestly think equally as strong and if not who cares when you can print a complete set of spare arms in under 2hrs for a few cents. ##Required hardware: * 8x M3x2.4mm nuts * 2x M3 Nylock nuts (camera mount) * 8x M3x12mm Countersunk screws * 8x M3x8mm Countersunk Screws * 4x 5.6mm plastic standoffs * 4x 3mm thread inserts * 4 x 38mm aluminium spacers - (could be substituted for a printed spacer) ##Designed for use with: * Runcam Owl * BetaFlight F4 (or other 30.5x30.5mm Flight controller) * ImmersionRC Tramp HV * FrSky XM+ * 2205 23000-25000kv motors * 5inch props ##Other required parts: * Antenna tube * XT60 Battery connector * 12-14awg wire * 22awg wire * Velcro (3M Dual Lock is fantastic https://hobbyking.com/en_us/automotive-grade-plastic-velcro.html) * Battery strap Note: The cut out in the Frame-Left is to allow for access to the USB port on the board, the cutout shouldn't change the strength much but testing will tell. Alternatively the Frame-Right could be mirrored in your slicing software and used on the left.
