6-Seat, Twin-Engine Propeller Plane

A preliminary design group project (with 5 other students), in which I was in charge of the CATIA model. The plane is powered by 2 Continental TSIO-520 piston engines turning 78-inch constant speed props and has 6 seats. A complete performance evaluation was carried out by our group for a specific mission profile. To better attract the attention of the customer, aesthetic appeal was kept as a design criterion. The CATIA model was heavily parameterized: all major dimensions were controlled by parameters, and cabin doors open/close, landing gear extension/retraction, and paint scheme colors were controlled by rules. Also, BRep references were completely avoided to minimize errors when geometry was changed. This made the model easily modifiable during the design process.
