I needed something to hold a 608 bearing as the swivel for L3-G0, my Lego R2D2's, front foot. Video of the finished full size Lego R2-D2. So, this is pretty simple, just a block about 1.7" with a hole for a 608 bearing, with a few mm on top to support it. I included a slightly fancier version with thinner edges, but it'd have overhangs. Use it for mounting bearings in robots or whatever. Please support my designs! Be sure to check out the blog and video of the finished real life Lego R2-D2, give him a thumbs up or share please! https://youtu.be/wdFkKSe0ZX0 has some video of the droid I made these for. Instructions This is basically just a square with a void in it. A little bit of padding so it doesn't fit too tight. However, printed in ABS I still needed some firm whacks with a mallet to get the bearing in the socket. Make sure you turn the square one over before printing, I was too lazy to flip the STL, and there'll be a void without supports if you try to print it like it is. I confess to only printing the square one so I didn't have to worry about the overhangs of the other version (supports should work for it though). My intent was to put an aluminum plate on top to strengthen it a bit, but it seems plenty strong as it is. It seems to fit tight enough you could probably make it only as tall as the bearing, and then just press in the bearing, not worrying about the lip on top. Of course that'd depend on your application. This was made for L3-G0, my full size Lego brick R2-D2. Make sure to check out his blog.
