FlaK is the German short form of Flugabwehr-Kanone, which means anti-aircraft gun. The 88 could penetrate 150 mm thick armour at ranges of 2 km or more and reach altitudes of 15,000m (48,000 ft). Although it was primarily an anti-aircraft gun, it also served against armour, bunkers and troops in Europe, Russia and North Africa. An experienced crew (usually 4, sometimes 6) could fire it at 15 to 25 rounds a minute. In practice, it was more likely to fired at about 5 to 10 rounds per minute. A 12-ton Daimler-Benz Kfz. Zugkraftwagen half-track truck served as its tractor and ammunition carrier. Some variants were mounted directly onto tank or half-track chassis. The various models produced between 1928 and 1945 ranged in weight from 4,9 to 7 tons. Length 7,62m (25ft), excluding outriggers or wheels, but this also varied. Depending on where it was used the 88 might have been painted with camouflage paint but often the gunners relied on its long-range capabilities and did not camouflage it. Model: Gun with outriggers but no wheels. Rigged in 3DS Max v.8 for firing animation with shells but no crew.
