8mm and 6mm Dowel Jig

8mm and 6mm Dowel Jig

thingiverse

This is my very first submission to Thingiverse so please do feel free to provide me with feedback. The Dowel jig was designed for 3d printing as I wanted a more accurate build than the one I made from wood. The 8mm jig was the first I built and I've used a 608-2z bearing as the drill guide and just a 6mm bot to attach the sliding rail. The jig principles of the jig was inspired by one that I found youtube and did work well when made in wood, I did use supports but guess I could do without that. The photo shows the first one I printed and since then I've changed the position of the centre finding pegs and also added a centre line so if you are using this to add dowels to the centre of a board you can easily align the bearing to drill.
