Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CbmtAMRwLA&t=8s 11/27/2018 -- I just added the .scad file I sued for this. I haven't made it work with the customizer but it should work. *I just added the base I placed the strips of LED in and the fit is fantastic. I also added pictures and a video. The new .STL is both pieces. I'll separate them and add the .scad file in the future. I'm driving it with an arduino and some simple code. I'll change this to an ESP8266 wifi unit soon.* This is VERY much a thing in progress. I'd strongly suggest waiting until it is complete as I'll change things as I mess up. I'm trying to make an 8x8 grid with RGB LEDs. I'm using the RGB LED strip you can buy from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CDTEJBG/). The idea is to print the face with translucent white and the grids with black so you don't have too much color bleed between cells. I'll cut the strips at 8 LEDs and wire them up -- more to come on that. I'll likely power this with an ESP8266 wifi board I have. The design was done in OpenSCAD. Trying to lay out the shapes in traditional CAD was not working well for me. With OpenSCAD I was able to adjust the number of cells X-Y, thickness of the 'diffuser', height of the cells, width of the cells, as well as the width for the LED ribbon to lay in. All of this could be adjusted and re-rendered until I was happy. I'll be adding a back plate that the LEDs will adhere to so I can lay them out and solder them together.
