A Christmas Story Leg Lamp - Biggerized by RebelTaz I found out this past week that my mother had always loved the movie "A Christmas Story". I guess there's no accounting for taste, but... I digress. I thought it would be nice to make her a leg lamp for Christmas. I found this fantastic model but I wanted it bigger. I scaled it up 210% - the largest size I could go and still get the shade and the base to fit on my print bed - and cut the leg in half to allow it to be printed at that larger size. While I was at it, I decided to put in a few additions. I added pins to help align everything while you are assembling it. I added a pillar at the top of the leg to help locate the shade, as well. In addition to this, I also cut a hole through the leg and the base to run a wire. Finally, I cut another hole in the base to allow for a barrel plug connector to be inserted. For lighting, I used some of those LEDs that you get from China that come on a reel and are able to be cut. I adhered one section - three LEDs - to the upper side of each horizontal support in the shade, tied them all together, and wired them to the power jack in the base. Finally, while I was in there monkeying around with the mesh, I found that the pinky toes side of the foot look a little bit odd, so I smoothed that out and fixed all of the mesh errors. I was working on a tight schedule - I usually take a year to complete the simplest task I start - but I think it came out pretty nice. ✞ Merry CHRISTmas ✞
