A Simple Paperclip

A Simple Paperclip

This was inspired by thing 35921 (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:35921) the 'Giant Paperclip'. I couldn't get that thing to print well at low resolution (0.3mm) on my printer so I made a less pretty, more functional version. Instructions Download one of the STL files (there is one for a single paperclip, another for a set of 8), slice it and print it. The other option is to download the OpenSCAD source, play with the values at the top of the file and generate your own STL. The default is to generate a set of 8 - you can change this at the bottom of the file. These work best with a relatively small 'depth' value (1mm works for me), increasing the depth makes them less 'bendy'. Because these objects are so thin vertically you don't really need a raft layer or a brim - they stick very well as is (I had a lot of problems getting them off the print bed when I used a brim). I'm using these to join my project cards together in a card file and the default sizes work really well for that, adjust as you see fit for your own purpose.
