As a DM for a large group of players (I currently have seven), I found that I was having a hard time keeping track of all of the various monsters during combat. Because of the high number of players in my campaign, I need to have just as many monsters to keep them challenged and engaged. The biggest problem is trying to keep track of which monster is doing the hitting, being hit, or is currently being plagued by various status effects. I tried using colorful bases taken from CMON’s Zombicide and Massive Darkness to try and make it easier, but so many of the colors were similar that it still was a hassle. I tried using little dice that I set next to each monster, but then that clutters up the field and makes it even harder to see locations during the combat. After some thought and discussion with my friend Xanto, we came up with the idea of a rotating number base that I could attach to each of my monsters so that I could keep track of them through a numbered system instead of colors.

The best part is that its usefulness doesn’t stop there. It can be used to track health pools in games like Gloomhaven. It can be used to count a number of enemies in a particular square like in Zombicide where a single space may be occupied by a half a dozen or more Runners, Walkers, Fatties, Wolvez, or Crowz (CMON Zombicide). It could be used by players to track the number of turns they have before an ability happens, or it could be used to track the duration of a status effect like Blind or Poisoned in Dungeons and Dragons. For small D&D parties, it could be used to track initiative with each player character and monster using a numbered base.

You can choose an outer base that uses a triangle, a heart, or a clock as the indicator. All of these are attached.

A Tabletop Games and Puzzles Contest entry.

Made in partnership with Xanto. https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/156614-xanto/prints

Print Instructions:
Supports: No
Resolution: 0.05 mm
Infill: None
