A Trip to the Moon Remix of Remix

<p>Inspired by klawndyke's thing and my love for the movie I took the original file by Zacharias Reinhardt and brought it into Cura to see what it looked like. Very tiny (probably created in inch units). Resized the model to what I wanted in Cura, about 1500%, and exported to stl. Next I split it into parts in Meshmixer and did a plane cut for wall mounting, then I brought the moon and the drool into Blender and combined them into a single solid. I did a boolean difference between the moon and the rocket to get the hole for the rocket to fit in. I also added a keyhole slot on the back of the moon.</p> <p>The first time I printed the rocket, the details did not show so I inflated the lines and rivets in Meshmixer and got better results. Redid the cap of the rocket as well to make it more symmetrical.</p> <p>Finally happy with all my tinkering, I printed the rocket in Ziro bronze and the moon in Duramic white. Gave the moon a charcoal gray acrylic wash and painted in the few details. Probably should have angled the rocket a bit more vertically to match the original image, but good enough for me. Besides I don't want to print it over again. Over all very nice model, Thanks to all and especially to Zacharias Reinhardt for creating such a great model.</p> <p>UPDATE: Made a rocket that is much more like the one in the film. With a little bit of Tacky Tabs I positioned the rocket a little more vertically without having to redo the moon which was already perfect. Both rockets are included if you prefer the one closer to the original model.</p> <p>UPDATE2:Added a new moon - MoonFIX2.stl - that has a better fitting rocket hole angled more like the original picture without the use of Tacky Tabs. Fits well, but not tight.
