A380 Main Landing Gear Doors (Redesign)

Model of landing gear and doors for Airbus A380. As a senior detail design project for a class, the doors were to be redesigned with attention paid to weight and strength. As part of 5 person team, I was in charge of the CATIA modeling and component design - the rest of the team was in charge of project management and stress analysis (using Excel and NEi NASTRAN). Due to time constraints, only the outer L-shaped door was analyzed, but I modeled everything just in case. The landing gear were also modeled and the whole assembly was animated to ensure a clash-free model. The landing gear were modeled using a few reference pictures. The outer wing fairing skin was obtained using the surface model of an A380 courtesy of Sedri: Airbus A380 (REAL SIZE) Several dimensions, including the wingspan, length, and landing gear locations were verified with public Airbus data to ensure accuracy. Though it was a detail design project, I still consider this a preliminary model because there is still a ways to go before I would consider it complete. CATIA V5R20 and STEP files are uploaded.
