***UPDATE*** 3-22-2018 Several files have been updated after testing. Still ironing out the details though. I decided i liked the idea of the AM8 frame but also liked the self enclosed 3D printers out there. I created this enclosure/frame to give me the best of both worlds. 2020 extruded aluminum was used and all parts are set to use M5x10 Button Head Socket Screws with T-Slot nuts. The final design rises the Z rails and carriage up a bit giving the build volume more height. The Z motor couplers will slide next to the stock X carriages with the exception that the right (non x motor) carriage had to be Dremmeled a bit to thin the wall. The acrylic panels rest in slots in the corners and 3x10mm magnets hold them at the top. The magnets are on order so I haven’t tested the parts for final fit yet. The extruder carriage has much more clearance for upgradability . I have most of the printer assembled and will add photos and more details as I finish installing the clear panels... To do: -I plan to redesign the Electronics enclosure to be more sturdy - Obsolete (see below) -I may try moving the electronics under the bed somehow, but that may not happen - COMPLETE -Final touches on acrylic panels -Create of BOM -List other creator's parts that are also used to create this printer -Instructions -Glam Shots of finished printer Credit where it's due: Several components were either taken from or heavily influenced by other designs. That said, the final design is far from the original AM8 and other influences were heavily modified.
