First off let me say that any donations for this design are greatly appreciated, thank you very much in advance! This item is a reel holder for the A8 Desktop 3D Printer Prusa i3, I was tired of my filament interfering with my limiter switches when my z axis started to get high because it was being held to the bottom of the printer, so I decided to design the Reel holder. It does the job perfectly! In holding the reel to the top left of the printer it prevents the filament getting in the way of any important functions of your printer. Due to its smart design there is no fastening required it simply clips onto the frame of your printer and holds its self in place using the weight of your filament spool. I have designed this reel holder to hold a 70 mm wide spool of filament however I have included an unmerged file which has a torus unmerged to the rest of the body so that you can move it to be as wide as you require before printing. If you are going to use this design I suggest not using Cura and using another slicer program such as Slic3r, the reason for this is Cura attempts to downscale the file to 83%. I have designed the parts to fit exactly therefore this downscaling would prevent the holder from fitting correctly. I have included 3 files in this design they are as follows: Reel holder 3D - This file is for slicing using slic3r, you can use your own settings in this however the settings that I used which worked perfectly for me are Layer height - 0.2 mm First layer height -0.32 Infill % - 40% Infill pattern - Honeycomb Support material overhang threshold - 50 degrees. Support material pattern - Pillars Extruder Temperature - 195 degrees (I have used PLA so modify these settings if using ABS or another material.) Bed temperature - 0 degrees (I have used PLA so modify these settings if using ABS or another material.) Reel holder merged - This file is the 123D design file that is ready for saving or modifying if you need to. Reel holder unmerged - This is the 123D design file that has a Torus unmerged, This is so that you can modify the width of your reel holder if neccesary.
