I've got the A8 spool holder sitting on top of my printer, which is perched on a custom-made LACK table that gives it plenty of clearance. The problem was that the spool holder would shake and rattle due to the printer's vibrations. To put an end to this noise, I secured the spool holder directly to the LACK table using a sturdy metal bracket.
