AA, 14500 Battery Cell Holder

AA, 14500 Battery Cell Holder

thingiverse

I needed a battery holder for a bunch of 14500 lithium cells (AA sized) so I could charge and capacity test them using my normal set of tools. The cells I acquired have a flat top (instead of button top) so most AA holders don't make good contact with the positive end. I whipped up this design after not really finding exactly what I wanted already on Thingiverse. The battery contacts can be repurposed from old electronics, other AA holders, or bought from AliExpress inexpensively. The spring battery contact means this holder works well for normal AA button top cells, as well as 14500 flat top cells. 20 AWG wire (or smaller) works great. I solder the wire to the battery contacts before feeding the wire through the holes at either end. A small bead of hot glue keeps the wires embedded in the channel. Finish up with a connector of your choice (XT30U in my case).
