*** Uploaded v3 arm modified to fit the usual 9mm diameter spring we tend to find in extruders. Also included a cap for the spring to go on the M3 bolt so you don't need a washer. I am using a 30mm M3 bolt with this. Picture added *** Meet ABE - Another Bloody Extruder. Based on some designs around thingiverse which were good but didn't quite meet my needs. Specifically I wanted to use a 625 bearing and have couplers on both input and output. I made this from scratch, although it is technically a remix. Printed v2 in the orientations the models are in, in the STL files. I used 15% zigzag supports with support interface roof enabled but not interface floor. I printed with Esun ABS+ but you can probably use whatever for it. Takes just over an hour at 0.2mm layers / 80mms using 0.4mm nozzle. ***Required parts:*** 2 x PC4M6 PTFE couplers 1 x 625 bearing 1 x M5 x 20mm PAN HEAD bolt (cap head will not work here!) 1 x M5 low profile locknut 1 x Mk7 Extruder gear (10.6mm Effective Diameter / 12mm OD / 13mm tall. I use this one) 1 x Spring, I am using one that is about 6mm diameter and 15mm long but other springs should work here. 1 x M3 x 15mm bolt (will vary depending on spring length) 1 x M3 nut 1 x M3 washer Various M3 bolts whose length will depend on what mount you use. At least 1 has to be pan head as it needs to fit into the hole behind the spring / arm. ***Assembly is pretty straight forward:*** * Attach body part to your favourite bowden mount. I have shown mounted to the Ender 3 stock mount, using 3 of the stock bolts, and an M3 x 20mm cap head bolt on the arm hinge. * Build arm by sliding 625 bearing into slot and then put the M5 bolt in from the back and the locknut on the front. There is enough clearance for a pan head bolt only sorry. The nut only needs to be on far enough so the bolt doesn't move. Over tightening will restrict the bearing movement. * Attach arm to body / stepper mount assembly using M3 bolt, I am using M3x25mm here. Do not over tighten as it will restrict arm movement. * Using 15 - 20mm M3 bolt depending on the length of spring you have, slide washer onto bolt, then the spring and insert into the vertical hole on the arm. Thread finger tight only into an M3 nut pushed into the trap on the right hand side of the body. Do not over tighten this one either else it will push into the filament path! If you are not getting enough tension, use a shorter bolt :) * Attach PTFE couplers, I bolted them by hand until they won't go any tighter. They should hold pretty well but let me know of any problems.
