Absolute Encoder Disk

Absolute Encoder Disk

thingiverse

7 bit Gray code absolute encoder disk. Originally intended to be used in a wind vane in my Weather Station (lu9aga.dyndns.org), but can be applied to any contraption where an absolute axis position must be asserted ( 5° granularity in this case). Seven optocouplers must be provided to read the position Gray code. I used 3mm IR LEDs and IR phototransistors. This disk replaced a graphic film version supported on a methacrylate disk. Both versions can be appreciated side to side in one of the photographs. Diameter is 140mm and the thickness is 1.2mm. Let me know if you want to scale the model. I can upload the .skp file. I apologize beforehand for any missing data or mistakes; it is my first publication and one of my firsts designs. Please be kind :)
