The boat was discovered in the 1st. dynasty necropolis at Abu Rawash by the Institute Francais d’Archeologie Oriental (IFAO). The necropolis dates back to the reign of king Den, about 2950 B.C. according to some findings bearing his name. The boat was found at the northern side of the mastaba no.6 A new cooperation between the Grand Egyptian Museum – Conservation Center (GEM CC) and the Institute Francais d’Archeologie Orientale (IFAO) In the first aid , transportation and restoration of the most ancient boat found in Egypt dating back to the 1st. dynasty –King Den region ,at Abu Rawash.
