Abyss AB-1266 (Phi) headphone - vented baseplate for the earpads

thingiverse

This is a vented baseplate for the earpads of a Abyss AB-1266 (Phi) headphone. With this baseplate you can adjust the venting of the headphones, the pressure of the earpads are no longer the main tool to adjusting the sound, you can wear them like regular over ear headphones. Baseplate adds 2mm high vs the stock beaseplate. You can adjust the amount of venting with the 18 spacer / side. You need 2 x baseplate, 36 x spacers and 36 neodymium magnets diameter 5mm, 1.5mm thick and n50 (or higher) strenght. Insert the magnets on the upper side (baseplate-earpade) before putting the erapads on (glue or double sided tape (3m 9474le (300lse)). If you have problem finding n50 magnets (often false labled, you often get lower grades) you can use 6 x spacers with lower grades magnets inside per baseplate. Closed side to the headphone. After listening some hours and finding the right amount of opening for you fix all spacers permanent with a drop of instant glue (not needed but a good idea). Two version of the baseplate, one is flat inside, the other curved (reducing static waves ? maybe ;-) ). You can use other earpads (audeeze, dekoni, angle pads etc). I open 2-3 vents in the front of the ear, a lot of different settings to try.
