Accuracy Block

Accuracy Block

I am uploading this very simple but very useful object due to repeated requests. This accuracy block is used in conjunction with the calibration pieces found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1037301. This block is used to determine the dimensional stability and accuracy of a calibrated filament. After calibrating the filament using the interlocking "C" shapes in the link above you then print this block using the same settings. The dimensions of 0.5" x 1.0" x 2.0" are important. While being dead on is always desirable the real intent is to make sure that dimensional variance in any direction stacks up consistently. For example a variance of .001 in the half inch direction should show up as a .002 in the 1" direction and .004 in the 2" direction. You want these values to be proportional for a good filament. If they are within .0005" for me then I consider it good. See the pictures. The STL file is Cura scaled and oriented for printing. I have been able to use this combination of calibration and accuracy objects to avoid using bad filament that would under extrude on the calibration and over extrude on the accuracy block. This also identifies for me my prime filaments for tight tolerance multi-part prints.
