This component is a crucial part of our build your own cytometer project, specifically the laser steering mirror. It features a 25mm mirror and has been modified from a model showcased at the Australian Cytometry Society Conference BYO workshop in both 2016 and 2018. To assemble this module, you will need two 30mm x 10mm x 3mm magnets to attach it securely to a steel base. Additionally, M3 thread hex screws and nuts are required for adjusting the mirror's position. It also necessitates four headers that can be sourced from an electronics hobby store. Moreover, two springs are necessary to maintain tension on the mirror; I utilized CenturySprings #450, which have a 2.77mm outer diameter and exert a force of 1.4N/mm each. However, you may find compatible alternatives on online marketplaces like eBay. When adjusting the mirror's position, it is advisable to tweak only the two outer screws while keeping the corner screw identical. If you need to shorten or lengthen the laser path, use the corner screw for adjustments.
