This is a remix / addition of the Ultralight Newtonian truss tube telescope - 114 mm (4.5 inch) main mirror (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5179005) by ScienceTechnology. Please give all credits and tips to ScienceTechnology, the original designer of this telescope. Instructions: New Mirror Base: This part exchanges the original main_mirror_cell. The goal for modifying the original base was to get a more accurate and easier collimation. The principle is similar to what you can find on Skywatcher Newton telescopes. The main mirror is fixed with double-sided-tape (3M MP467 sheet, the same like you have for fixing heatbeds in 3D printing) on the part MainMirrorAssembly.stl. The mirror is protected by a ring (mainMirrorRing.stl) which is glued on the MainMirrorAssembly.stl either. You need: - plastic glue like Uhu Hart Kunststoff - 6 Thumbscrews (3 red, 3 black), build of 6 printed parts ThumbscrewM3.stl, 6 inserts M3x5x4mm, 6 screws ISO4762 M3x25mm - 6 springs 9.5mm Diameter, 13 mm compressed, 21 mm uncompressed, 0.67 mm Wire thickness - 6 more inserts M3x5x4mm Assembly: Press 3 Inserts M3 into the MainMirrorAssembly.stl and 3 into NewMirrorBase.stl. To collimate the main mirror you loose the red thumbscrews a bit and adjust with the black ones. Fix again the red ones. This is very usefull with a laser collimator NewFocuser: Remix of the Focuser ABSDBS-8" (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2658607) to adapt that focuser on the "Ultralight Newtonian truss tube telescope - 114 mm (4.5 inch) main mirror". You need all the parts from the original inspite the new adapter part NewFocuser.stl. The advantage is an easier and finer adjustment of the focus. To come exactly to the focus point it is necessary to use slightly longer screws at the secondary mirror adjustment. Cover: Easy-to-fix-cover with magnet holders. You need: - 1x knurled thumbscrew (printed) - 1x brass insert M4x6x6 mm - 1x screw ISO4762 M4x12 mm - 4x Nd-Magnets 6x3 mm Melt the brass insert into the thumbscrew-part. Turn in the M4 screw and fix the screw with some threadlock. Turn the thunbscrew into the cover. Glue the magnets in the holes of the cover. The magnets must fit to the screws in the part new_mirror_base.stl Center Marker: The center marker helps to mark the center of the mainmirror. Use a permanent felt pen to and draw a circle for the collimation. Disclaimer: I have tried out the described things and they worked for me. Use the instructions and methods at your own risk.
