Adjustable Equatorial Sundial

Adjustable Equatorial Sundial

grabcad

This is an easy to set up equatorial sundial. No tools, nuts, bolts, or manual dexterity required. Simply turn the knob at the front to adjust the dial to your latitude - range on the gear is from the equator (E) up to 65 degrees. You could just about get to the arctic circle (66deg 36' I think). Then point the shadow caster, the gnomon, toward the pole. The "N" is for Noon, not North, so the dial can be conveniently used in the southern hemisphere, too. Then, when it's sunny, you can be guaranteed to know the time - within about 15 minutes, give or take, and depending on the time of year... No batteries required! And it's printable.
