Insert the small rod into the larger one first, followed by the rectangular piece which fits snugly into the large rod near its end with a notch nearby. To activate the locking mechanism, press down on the lower portion of the rectangle to release tension in the smaller rod, then push up on the upper half to secure it firmly in place. Once locked, the small rod should remain stationary even when subjected to pressure.
