Aerogarden Extension

Aerogarden Extension

thingiverse

This is an extension for the Aerogarden to make the lamp higher to give the plants more room to grow. This extension increases the height by about 9cm (~3.5in) and still allows the lamp to be raised or lowered as needed. Recommend to build using PETG to make it stronger and more durable. I printed it small side down with supports to ensure the section that inserts into the base is very precise. *** The wire to power the lamp will need to be cut and an extension added and soldered on. Instructions to implement the extension: Removing the light tower from the base: 1) Remove the screws to the base of the aerogarden and open it up 2) Unplug the cord that connects the tower to the board (there is a two pin connector for this) 3) There is a single screw that holds the tower in place from below. Remove this. 4) Remove the tower from the base Electrical 5) Cut the black and red wires that connect the tower to the board 6) Using a similar gauge wire (16 or 18 gauge) Solder on an extra piece of wire that is more than 10cm long to each wire. Using heatshrink, cover the soldered areas to protect from shorting to the other wire. *** The connector for the wire will not fit through the extension, you will need to feed it through BEFORE soldering the wires together 7) Slide the extension onto the tower section then insert into the base 8) Reconnect the two pin connector into the board Finishing up 9) Replace the screw for the bottom of the base 10) Close up the base and replace all screws.
