Aeromacchi / VSM3 fiberglass seats is one of my favorites. I've used it on one project bike and am contemplating using it on another. So, I thought it would be great if I had a 3D model of the seat.3D scanning is still maturing and there are many options available. Not wanting to spend a lot of money I bought a used XBOX Kinect scanner.Attached are the scan data and the progress until the final Solidworks seat assembly.Software that was involved: Skanect, Autodesk Meshmixer and Solidworks. I'm at the beginning level of scanning and trying to figure out the best methods. (I could have improved on the scan. I could have improved on the editing of the scan too. I wanted to get the data into Solidworks as fast as possible and use it as a guide for Solidworks sketching/surfacing.)Enjoy.
