Aeropress Plunger

Aeropress Plunger

I found myself with the bottom part of an Aeropress and had a look to see if you could buy the plunger and the rubber seal. Turns out you can buy the seal so I set about creating the plunger. I have not printed this version as I updated the bottom part threads as on the original they were a little tight and were binding, but as I don't intend to take the bottom part off, it isn't an issue for me. I have printed this in ABS but I think PETG would be OK as well as the printed parts are not in contact with either the coffee or the water. I printed the top and bottom parts at 0.15 layer height with 20% infill, 3 perimeters and 3 top and bottom layers and I printed the body at 0.25 layer height, with 15% infill, 3 perimeters and 3 top and bottom layers. Note it is designed this way for easy printing and does not need supports, just place them on the bed as shown in the thumbnails. I was able to test the rubber seal and it all works perfectly for the brewing of coffee. Note, I would not recommend using any FDM printed parts directly next to food or drinks unless they have been specially treated to do so.
