Aerotech 24/40 Motor Cross Section

thingiverse

This is a cross section of an Aerotech E-18 RMS motor, although it is nearly identical to E-28 and F39 motors as well. It was created as a learning tool for a high school rocketry team learning aid. Having something that they can look at and hold while they learn to assemble motors has been incredibly helpful while teaching kids to assemble these at that field. The TARC team that I coach uses this as a checklist while assembling the motor. This ensures that the O-rings are placed correctly, the delay spacer is on the right side, and all of the other important aspects of assembling motors on a cold morning at the field. There are a lot of parts for a small motor and it's easy to get them wrong. I'm hoping this prevents mistakes in the future. This also serves as a nice learning aid to help students understand how the fuel grain burns, how the delay is set, why the ejection charge works, and can be used to explain when things go wrong.
