I added a cooling air jet directly to extruder gear assembly to prevent softening of PLA filament too soon, PLA is worst case (heat is transferred from stepper motor and extruder hot block). Instructions Print this to replace current mount and add air from compressor. If more adjust-ability for filament diameter tolerance then print: "Extruder Cable Box New with Air and self adj" and add: thingiverse.com/thing:16711 along with a Vlier spring plunger.
