#AFV: M-1025 ##A-Folded-Vehicle (AFV) Series No. 1 Introducing a new series of model vehicle “kits” that can be printed in their entirety on a 6- x 6-inch 3D printer bed. In other words, all of the model’s pieces and parts are obtained in a single 3D printing session. The original concept was for each model to be interconnected in such a way that you would simply print the parts and they could then be easily assembled into the final model. Sorta like a folded piece of paper being able to represent a 3D object similar to an Origami Crane. Hence the name for this new series of models—A-Folded-Vehicle or AFV (and, yes, AFV also stands for Armored Fighting Vehicle). Unfortunately, this original “folded” concept couldn’t be achieved; nonetheless, the name stuck and, therefore, this is the first model in the AFV series. ###The Model This 24-part kit is a roughly 1:56 scale model of the M-1025 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) or Humvee armament carrier. Serving as a basic cargo/utility light truck replacement, the M-1025 quickly became the “goto” jeep vehicle for military operations in the desert environments of the Middle East. The M-1025 also contributed to the development of the civilian line of General Motors (although initially produced by AM General as the H1) H2 and H3 Hummer trucks. A step-by-step assembly guide is provided for making your own AFV M-1025. Testors Liquid Cement for Plastic Models (#3507) is recommended for assembling your model. Enjoy. ###Step-By-Step Each step is accompanied by an eponymous photograph. There are 24 parts in this kit for the M-1025. *Step 1.* Cement two wheel halves together. Repeat this process for all four wheels. *Step 2.* Yes, I know this isn’t how it’s done in the Ferrari Factory, but press fit a wheel onto each axle on the frame. The wheel’s hub should be flush with the end of the axle. *Step 3.* Cement the side armor onto the chassis. The front of each side should align with the end of the floorboard. *Step 4.* Attach each side door panel to the inside of the side armor. *Step 5.* Cement the roof to the tops of the door panels. Ensure that the thinner edge of the roof opening is at the rear of the doors. *Step 6.* Mount the chassis on the frame. *Step 7.* Cement the bed frame to the top of the vehicle’s bed side walls. *Step 8.* Cement the front grill to the front edge of the frame. Carefully attach the hood to the firewall and the grill. *Step 9.* Cement the windshield to the hood and roof. *Step 10.* Carefully trim the rear fenders from the rear tailgate and then cement them into place. *Step 11.* Insert the roll bar into the gap between the roof and the bed frame. *Step 12.* Attach the rear hatch to the bed frame. This hatch can be positioned either open or closed. Your AFV M-1025 model is now complete.
