AFX Track Support System

AFX Track Support System

thingiverse

This is a system of supports to fit my brothers AFX Slot Car tracks. He went a bit overboard on his layout and needed multiple supports. This was created give it a better look than the small blocks of wood he was using. The printed parts are designed to fit a 3/8" wooden dowel. Rather than hours of printing columns you can cut to the dowel to length to get the height you need. The supports flex a bit and clip on where ever required. They seem to fit nicely on straight lengths or curves. The basic support has holes on either side to fit a dowel, there is also a version that only has the hole on one side for those places you can only get to on one side. There is a version of each of these that the hole goes straight through that might be handy for multiple levels. I have also included but never really tested a midspan cube and a side support. The idea for these was so you could stick the dowel straight out the side if required in places you cannot get to directly. Lastly there are base parts. These are to screw into whatever the track is built on for a more permanent and stable layout. Things fit VERY snugly to the dowel on the parts I printed. Sanding down the dowel slightly or cleaning things up with a 3/8" drill bit can sometimes be required to fit things together. Not sure how well my printer is calibrated so I would recommend you try one first and make sure it fits nice to the track before printing too many. I printed with supports just so the holes would come out rounder.
