Air Boat Remix

This is a remix of the Air Boat by Awseiger. It needed a deck lid so I made one up. The hatch is designed to have a magnet hold down in the front and latches in the back to keep it in place. The hatch is made in two halves for those with smaller print area. There is also a one piece version. I glued the two halves together while in position on the boat with wax paper protecting the hatch from accidentally being glued to the boat. See picture 6. I used Gorilla Super Glue GEL. I used this because it's thick and would fill in any gaps. The magnets I used were the ones I had on hand. They were the smaller ones. Now that I have it together I should have used the next size up to hold it tighter. That size is Rare Earth Magnets Item#67488 from Harbor Freight. To attach the hatch magnet support I made a mark 5mm from each end. Then clamped to the underside of the front deck. See pictures 8 and 9. When I put the rudders on I had some trouble with the ClevisJoinerRod_V1. I had to re position the servo to the other side. It's hot glued on. I also used a paper clip for the wire. I formed a "Z" bend on one end but left extra rod bent to add support for the joiner rod. It was falling over and jamming the rudders. I used a connector on the servo arm that securely holds the rod from twisting. See pictures 4 and 5. More updates as I finish and use the boat. Things to do - balance the boat to the proper center of gravity. It should balance at 30% from the back of the boat. That can be done by running the boat over a round pencil and moving the battery, etc until it hits the CG mark. That should be 72mm from the rear. Also the motor had to be reversed. The prop hit and broke in the pusher setup. 11/23/2018: Update the 30% must be bad info. I tried it at this point and the rear was too low. Giving it power to get it up on plane drove the back of the boat LOWER. More information to follow.
