Disclaimer. I do not have testing equipment to prove that this will reduce the amount of harmful fumes/particles that are given off while printing ABS. But it should help. This air scrubber was designed to take up very little space in the Malyan 180. But should work with other enclosed printers as well. The inspiration for this was derived from my concern for printing ABS filament in my home office. Print Settings Printer: Malyan M180 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2mm Notes: 10% infill for the elbow and air stand. 90% infill for the collar. How I Designed This After some initial testing I would recommend using two fans. They create a lot more suction through the cartridge. Make sure your fans will run on the same voltage that your printer will supply. You may need to hack into your other cooling fan/fans. If you do this you are on your own, it will void the warranty on your printer. After you have printed the parts, glue the collar into the top hole with one tab pointing straight down (I used two part epoxy). As long as your gluing stuff, glue a magnet to the back, it will keep the unit from vibrating away from the back of the cabinet. The elbow on the fan helps to circulate the air in the enclosure and maintain a more uniform ambient temperature for printing ABS. You will need some flat head screws 6-32 x 1-1/2" for one fan or 6-32 x 2-1/2" for two fans. 3.5m x 40mm or 3.5 x 65mm. I added a switch to the front of my printer for convenience, but you can just unplug the air scrubber when printing PLA. You will need at lest one fan, search Ebay for 40mm X 40mm X 20mm fans. I found these 2 for under $10.00 You will also need respirator cartridges, search Ebay for 3M 60923. I used some packing foam to make a gasket. Foam gasket. Magnet glued to the back.
