Main idea of this project was making an airsoft gun, which distantly resembles Desert Tech MDR rifle. This is not an exact replica, a lot of changes were made to make the rifle a bit more ergonomic, easy to assemble and reliable as an airsoft gun. This gun features a strong, durable and easy-to-assemble 3D-printed plastic gearbox. The gearbox is compatible with usual airsoft parts for version 3 gearbox. I’m grateful to them for providing me parts for this project. Links in this instruction are showing the exact parts which were used for the project. Project take about 1.5 years of development. During that time I’ve assembled and tested about 7 different rifles before I’ve come to the final design. First of the rifles was stress-tested and game-tested. Gearbox shows no signs of wear during rather harsh use (like dry-firing a couple of thousands shots). Other guns inherit gearbox design with minor improvements, but the outer shells were modified heavily.
