I recently treated myself to a pair of prescription Carerra Ducatis (model
CARDUC 006/S
). It took nearly 2 months for my prescription to get made for some reason, so I decided I didn't ever want to lose these. So, I made case for them that also houses an Apple AirTag.

If you also have a “wrap-around” or “racer” style of sunglasses, this may also work for your model too but remember it was designed for the Carerra Ducati 006/S model.

The AirTag snaps very confidently into place and would never rattle or fall out. It is, in fact, a little hard to remove, but it is meant to be removable and replaceable so that you can change the battery when needed.

The magnets are very small (5mm diameter by 3mm height) and I don't think they're even Neodymium but provide the perfect force to keep the case closed without being difficult to open. I used these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0936M3WPK. They must be glued into place (I used Krazy Glue). I recommend that you ensure they magnets touch when the case is closed, but are far enough in that they let the case fully close too. If they don't touch when it is closed, they may not hold it together.

I used PETG so that it (probably) won't melt in my car on a hot Summer day, but I am also including the gcode for ASA (with an embedded draft shield) too, in case you live in really hot places and warping is more likely. I used a powder coated steel sheet to get a nice texture on the top and bottom.

The model prints “open” on the print bed without any supports and, in my case, once the bed cooled, you can just pick it up and the hinge was ready to go. It didn't even need “breaking-in” on my print. Then, just glue in the magnets (make sure you get the polarity right!), snap in your AirTag and you're done!

I have included a STEP export of my work in Fusion 360 if you need a different size case, or need to use different magnets or whatever.

Monogrammed version: Not included, but easy to do

I added a monogram in white to my print. This is very easy to add in PrusaSlicer if you have an MMU2S or other means of doing multi-color prints. Just model your desired monograph, then add it as a part into your PrusaSlicer project with “Add part > Load …” and choosing your monogram's STL files. I used a height of 0.5mm for my monogram since the white is semi-transparent and I didn't want it to show through to the black.

Anyway, arrange the order of the parts so that the monogram is last in the list in PrusaSlicer so it will replace part of the case model where they overlap. Assign a different color to this part and you're good to go!
