**THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE SYSTEM** This sharpening system is meant for those who own a lansky rod system, but the clamps do not accommodate a knife with strangely angled bevels or spines. This sharpener can sharpen most knives, but if they are too short or aren't wide enough to fit on the platform correctly, it won't work. I'm working on building a more forgiving and modular system, as this one is pretty much a proof of concept. iCodesmith provided a useful table clip add-on. Go like his profile here and be nice to him. https://www.thingiverse.com/iCodesmith/about BEST DIMENSIONS FOR COMPATIBLE KNIVES: At least 3/4" by 2" by 1/8", otherwise it might not fit on the platform correctly. If you can scale the entire system up to accept larger magnets, go ahead, it will be able to handle larger knives. But if you do scale up, I'd bet that using the AJSHARP.stl rod guide might be fine, as it will enlarge the guide holes. For best results, be gentle while sharpening, and do not press too much. However, be confident in this system because it is capable of being a great sharpener. My BK-11 is scary sharp now, as before the lansky system did not grip the spine of the knife properly, and it botched sharpening. There are 2 files attached; open AJSHARP.stl in cura or whatever and delete the angle guide, and then open the second file and add the new angle guide to the print. Don't use the AJSHARP angle guide because it is too small to accept the rods properly. I used 2 12x3mm neodymium magnets from home depot, and pressed them into the holes at the front, no glue required. To get the most out of this sharpener, lay a cloth or piece of leather down on the edge of a table, and set the jig on the edge, with the magnets barely hanging over the edge. Then just sharpen away, being gentle to not press too hard or too soft. You can cut an old mousepad and glue it to the bottom of the base to get a better grip on tables etc. Thanks for looking, and please leave any feedback on how I can improve this system.
