Calcareous alabaster is used in polished slabs and as ornamental objects. Travertine is composed chiefly of Calcite; fine-scale banding of browns, grays, whites, and pink of very fine-grained to no visible crystals of Calcite. Travertine is the classic construction stone, for facing and paving. Essential minerals: Calcite or Aragonite, with Limonite impurities.
