Mix and match parts, or use the big bed-sized .STL file "Alien_ball_and_socket_Rex_Predator_1.1" to print all the parts needed for a basic 3-legged drone >8D "Alien_ball_and_socket_Rex_Predator_1.1" .stl file setup notes: The big bed print has all the printed parts oriented sideways on the bed to avoid the weak axis falling along the thinner parts of the structure (i.e. lobes of the sockets and across the ball necks). Also, in the full bed horizontal printing format, I have added support disks under the ball part of each component to ensure the sphere part of each ball forms correctly. IMPORTANT TIPS: Increasing your fill density helps ALOT. Softening parts BEFORE snapping them together to prevent breakage recommended: If the pieces dont fit together straight away without forcing them, (especially if printed in a vertical orientation!!), heat them in your oven for a little bit (15-20m) to soften them before reattempting the insertion. (Note: 50-65° Celsius works for ABS & PET-G, Im not sure of the PLA softening temperature, and nylon prints didn't seem to need softening to fit together without cracking somewhere important) Increase Resolution When Scaling Down: If you scale these objects down, increase the detail resolution on your printer - printing these objects smaller without increasing the resolution prevents the sockets from locking onto the balls and makes your pieces randomly pop off all over the place instead of staying put (i.e. frustrating waste of filament) Thoughts? You can print them singly if desired, but the included "bat wings for print" file has them oriented and supported in a way that should preserve both the strength and print quality. Revised the double socket piece to look much cooler. There is also a new 2xsocket/4xball piece specifically for you to use with a pair of freshly printed wings
