All Metal Screws triple remix

This is a remix of Arron Mollet's Mechanical Quick Grab/Release Phone Stand and two metal screw based remixes by Robert Torres and cr0ss8y

To be printed

You can load the all-parts.3mf in PrusaSlic3r and print it.

However, because different phone sizes might require different size arms, consider adapting the file list below:

arm-left.stl consider finding a remix that better fits your phone such as https://www.prusaprinters.org/print/75317

arm-right.stl consider finding a remix that better fits your phone such as https://www.prusaprinters.org/print/75317

back-panel.stl

2× faux-hardware-bolt.stl

2× faux-hardware-nut.stl

front-panel.stl

mount-bracket.stl

rack.stl consider finding a remix that better fits your phone

2× slider.stl

spur-gear-left.stl

spur-gear-right.stl

stand-link.stl

stand.stl

three-finger-mount.stl

To be added

1× M4×13 bolt not a standard size, file down an M4×14 bolt

2× M4×10 bolt

2× M3×14 bolt with head diameter not exceeding 6mm

3× M4 hexagonal nut

2× M3 hexagonal nut

Attributions

Arron Mollet for the original Mechanical Quick Grab/Release Phone Stand (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3681512)

cr0ss8y for the remix that uses metal screws for the phone holder part (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4293435)

Robert Torres for the remix that uses metal screws for the stand link joints (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4251338)

Original Arron Mollet parts

These parts are unmodified. However, I rotated them to their correct print orientation. However, I rotated them to their correct print orientation.

faux-hardware-nut.stl

Modifications

These are my modifications to the parts

front-panel.stl

I fixed an error in cr0ss8y's front-panel. The two side nut holes protruded 1.35mm too far from the panel.

faux-hardware-bolt.stl

I lengthened the bolt. The original only passed through ⅗ of the joint. Mine passes through all 5 fingers, but leaves 1mm of space in the last one for tightening.

Future Work

I'd love to see a version of the faux hardware nut and bolt made for M4 bolts. It would simplify the BoM if you could use M4 bolts and nuts for everything. Another option is to thicken the bottom of the mount-bracket by 1mm. That would mean that you can use another M4×14 nut for the center post. M4×13 is a rather unusual length.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2 (Quality)

Infill: 15%
Filament: Generic PLA or ABS

Notes:

I've printed this in both PLA and ABS:

Prusament Silver PLA (test version)

Generic ABS (parts of test version, definitive versions) I assume it will print well in PETG too.

You might want to add a slight bit of elephantiasis compensation. When printing in ABS I use 0.4mm instead of the PrusaSlic3r standard of 0.2mm

I printed these for a church organised quarantine STEM/Beta activity. We mail the parts out to people (with some adjustments for phone size) and they join a video call where we assemble them together.
