The Altair 8800 was a super influential computer, and now you can have your own, in the shape of a Raspberry Pi case! You can just print this out and have a basic case, or you can add LEDs to the GPIO pins to create a more realistic simulation of the old brick. You can see the LED mod in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVSjjSe1DNU This should fit either the Pi 3 or 4. Too lazy to print your own? Buy one from our store - http://store.rabbitengineering.com PARTS NEEDED: 4 x M2.5x18mm screws and M2.5 nuts to go with them 3 x #6 x 1/2 inch screws 4 x 1/4" little rubber feet (due to the screws at the bottom of the case, you need these feet to make the case sit right). Some double-sided tape to stick the face sticker to the face part Super glue or hot glue. Optionally you can add up to 12 5mm LEDs; you will also need a 330 ohm resistor to go with each LED. These can be connected to the GPIO pins to simulate the lights on the Altair's face. TOOLS NEEDED: 3D printer (duh :-D ) 2d color printer to print out the face sticker a #6 tap to tap out the screw holes a large and a small Phillips head screwdriver for your screws. There is a PDF file which shows you how to use the case, but there are a couple of things you need to do before you start following the manual: 1. Use double sided tape to stick the a face sticker to the flat side of face.stl. Stick it so that the LEDs on the picture on the sticker line up with the holes in face.stl. 2. Glue face.stl to the outside of the two tabs on lower_body.stl with superglue or hot glue. 3. Using a #6 tap, tap the hole in top_cover.stl. and the center hole in cradle_front.stl and cradle_rear.stl 4. Now you can follow the manual.
