Alternating Pitch Rotor for Wave Turbine Energy Creation

Alternating Pitch Rotor for Wave Turbine Energy Creation

thingiverse

This is a design I used for my 7th grade science project to explore the feasibility of harnessing the energy of the bobbing motion of waves vs. the established tidal barrier method that is both expensive and have a huge impact on the natural ecosystem. The concept is based on a turbine rotor that rotates in a constant direction irrespective of the flow of water passing through it. This is achieved by the use of an alternating pitch rotor. Each of the four blades is hinged in such a way that as the water changes direction (tube rises up and down with the waves) the rotary motion maintains the same direction. This rotary motion could be attached to a motor (generator) to generate electricity.
