Amazon on horseback and barbarian

An Amazon perched on a rearing horse clashes with a barbarian who attempts to deal a final blow before succumbing. The work is based on Hellenistic models of the Pergamene school (second half of the 2nd cent. BC). The group was on display in the villa paired with another on the same theme found in 1610 and now in the Ca. mid-2nd cent. AD.    This object is part of "Scan The World".
