The Kosciuszko mine is the only existing military tunnel from the American Revolution. The 125-foot tunnel is 2.5-5 feet in height and was dug in the subsurface soil by Patriot soldiers from American lines toward the British-held Star Fort at Ninety-Six in South Carolina. The tunnel, star fort and earthworks were significant landscape features during the course of the 1781 siege that is today commemorated at this National Park and National Historic Site. Our above and below surface mapping utilized GPS, aerial and terriestial LiDAR approaches and our terrestrial 3D laser scan pointcloud showing the tunnels and above ground terrain are depicted here.
