Amiga CD32 Mounting Plate for Indivision AGA HDMI VGA Adapter as a RF Modulator Replacement

This is a small mounting plate that can be used to mount the Indivision AGA MK3 HDMI/VGA Board to the mainboard of the Amiga CD32 as an replacement for the RF Modulator. The mounting plate features all existing holes in the CD32 mainboard REV.3. I used four M3 screws with 6mm thread lenght to fix the Indivision AGA HDMI/VGA adapter board to the mounting plate. In order to avoid having to enlarge the holes in the mainboard, I used two tesa® Powerstrips (removeable double-sided adhesive tapes) to attach the mounting plate with the installed HDMI/VGA adapter to the CD32 mainboard. This preserves the possibility of reinstalling the RF modulator and restoring the original state. Bevore you start this mod, be aware that: 1. Desoldering the RF Modulator is difficult, because of the strong heat decipation of the modulators case. Once you start, you are going to swear a lot and probably asking yourself, why you even started. Keep calm and follow the following steps. It's actually not that hard, once you have the right method ;) The easiest way to desolder, is to start heating the middle (large) pin of the rf modulators case (which you find on the outer perimeter of the mainboard). Heat this pin for a while, then try to wedge a flat screwdriver or the blade of a swiss army knife in between the pcb an the rf modulator. Once you have done that, you need to continue to heat the big pins of the case one at a time and with little force on the screwdriver/blade slowly lift the modulators case from the main board. Go easy, heat one pin at a time until the solder is melted, then do a little lift. Continue with the next pin. And so on and so on. 2. The included ribbon cable is not long enough. I wasn't able to find a source for the 22pin 2mm pitch header nor for the 22pin 1mm pitch flat ribbon cable and ended with buying a 44pin cable that i sliced in half and reusing the original headers. Have fun! Post your build.
