Here is a fun but larger project to build an opening lightsaber. Most of the many parts I used to make this version were modified from other designers, mostly CaseStudyno8. Also from Dogbert's emitter remix and timmy_d3's remix.

It has a crystal chamber design that's revealed when the saber is pulled open. It has a sliding rail type system to let the hilt ends pull apart securely. Uses 8x3mm magnets to keep it closed. The internals are optional so there are solid versions of the hilt parts included if you just want the regular saber.

Emitter ports - Works with the emitter port casing. Glue in place after inserting casing.

Use supports as needed.

Added a new clamp lever that VanessaE designed to print better. The file is called ‘clamp lever rework.'

Internal assembly:

Assembly can be tedious, so be patient.

Magnets are optional if you simply want to display this.

Use brims and support for small parts.

Test fit everything before committing to any gluing.

Print the slider cores with their slots horizontal and use supports. Make sure to remove supports completely for the rails to move freely.

Be very careful gluing the internal assembly to the bottom and upper hilt sections to avoid gluing any moving parts. Don't use too much glue (you can add more if needed but can't take it back) and keep it away from the edges to prevent sticking to the walls on the way in.

Want it to light up? VanessaE remixed this into a fantastic lighted display piece:
https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/155451-anakin-skywalker-lightsaber-crystal-reveal-with-li

Display stand included. Base is very long so if it doesn't fit on your print bed diagonally, there is a split base for smaller printers. Use color change/swapping for the tag.

Here is a guide that explains how color swapping works, at least with Prusaslicer: https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/color-change_1687

Thingiverse user balasizsolti has produced an excellent video of his printing and assembly of this model: https://youtu.be/l8AHSXimNM8

Here is an excellent guide for anyone looking for details about the movie props: http://wannawanga.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/SW_Lightsaber_Guide.pdf

Update 2/6/22 Fixed the Lower core outer so it should not have missing layers due to being too thin, and updated the Lower core inner to fit the new diameter. Both have v2 in the name.
