I designed my own 3D printable joystick for my Apple IIe since they are expensive and hard to find now a days. This design will work for IBM compatibles and other retro computers when wired accordingly. Notes: -The buttons are separate so that they can be easily printed a different color and glued on. -If the cable exit hole is slightly too small assemble the case and run a drill of the desired size through the hole. -Use a small zip tie to hold the cable to the cradle at the exit hole as shown in the example photos. -Apply grease to the see-saws and rotating points of the gimbal for smooth operation. -The screw threads should be greased lightly before inserting for the first time. -Slight sanding or filing may be needed to make things glide perfectly smooth. The parts are designed to require minimal finishing when printed at the recommended resolution of 0,12 mm layer height. Hardware needed: -Two 1x7x10 mm springs: https://ebay.us/hklsRi -Six 3x12mm screws: https://ebay.us/qA4qhz -Two 16mm knurled potentiometers of the appropriate size for your system: https://ebay.us/urLPyj -Two 6x6x6mm tactile buttons: https://ebay.us/WSPbbn -Optional switch for adding functions: https://ebay.us/9b8lRz Wiring depends on the system you make the joystick for. You can find pinouts and diagrams online if you need to look this up. To make my Apple IIe joystick I used two 200k potentiometers with two 56nF capacitors between signal on each channel and ground to achieve the correct range of input signal. The Apple IIe D-sub pinout is: Pin 1 - Button 2 Pin 2 - +5V Pin 3 - Ground Pin 4 - Not used Pin 5 - X-axis signal Pin 6 - Not used Pin 7 - Button 1 Pin 8 - Y-axis signal Pin 9 - Not used
