Anatomically Accurate Dinosaur Skulls

Anatomically Accurate Dinosaur Skulls

thingiverse

These are the skulls of 6 complete dinosaurs skeletons that were sculpted by Stu Pond for the NERC 50th Anniversary Summer of Science. You can read all about it and download the rest of the skeletons at http://www.animalsimulation.org where you can also find the computer software needed to animate the dinosaurs (if you want to do more than print them out). The skeletons available are the famous Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, and Brachiosaurus, and the less well-known Edmontia (an ankylosaur), Edmontosaurus (a duck-billed hadrosaur), and Gorgosaurus (a meat-eating theropod). Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Kossel Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 10% Notes: You need good supports for these models. I really recommend Autodesk Meshmixer which will generate these moderately easily. You just need to change some of the defaults so it doesn't use too many. You also need to fiddle with the orientation to get away with only a few supports. I've also played with using manually sculpted supports. It works quite well but Meshmixer is quicker. Post-Printing If you want to print the whole dinosaur think about how big it's going to be. If you print just the skull at 20cm across you may end up with a 2m model! Of course that may be exactly what you want, and if you do print out a complete skeleton then I want to see it! How I Designed This The models were sculpted in Maxon Cinema 4D with a little bit of cleanup and reposing in Blender. If you use the models then please acknowledge Stu Pond and the NERC 50th Anniversary Summer of Science,
